The City of Douglasville held a kick-off meeting Thursday, February 8, 2018 for the Unified Development Ordinance project. This project will be led by Jacobs, the consulting firm the City has contracted with for Community Development staff augmentation services.
The goals of the project are to update the City’s land development codes to bring them up to industry standards, eliminate conflicts and redundancies, and improve their readability and ease of use. The process will examine City codes and ordinances that may be outdated and in need of revision, including the zoning ordinance and development regulations, and combine them to form a Unified Development Ordinance.
The need for a zoning rewrite was identified by Jacobs in their recent evaluation of the City’s Community Development Services area. The contract awarded to Jacobs was part of the Mayor and Council 2017 goals for the City’s future growth.
