The beautiful new picnic pavilion will open with a ribbon cutting at Hunter Park on Monday November 27th at 2pm.
The pavilion is a joint effort of the City and the Douglasville Masonic Lodge #289.
The structure replaces one that was damaged by the flood of 2009, and the Douglasville Lodge contributed almost 23% of the pavilion construction price.
Rain forced the first celebration to move to the ballroom at Ike Owings Community Center back in August, but Douglasville Parks & Recreation Director Travis Landrum said, "the construction of this pavilion will benefit everyone by providing the residents and visitors to Hunter Memorial Park an additional amenity to further enjoy their time here."
The new pavilion will be available to host a variety of small, intimate functions such as birthday parties, family gatherings, social events and more.
