West Pines Golf Club Named To Top 10 Courses in Greater Atlanta
According to Golf Advisor and Golf Now, West Pines Golf Club, in Douglasville, ranked sixth and eight respectively in the top 10 lists of golf courses in the greater Atlanta area.
West Pines also ranked second in municipal golf courses in the Atlanta area behind Cherokee Run Golf Club in Conyers.
West Pines is owned by the City of Douglasville, and Chris Cartwright, a Class A PGA Member, oversees the day-to-day operations of the club as the Head Professional.
“The Mayor and Council have been great advocates for West Pines,” Cartwright said, “they’ve allowed us to make the improvements necessary to get West Pines in the upper echelon of golf courses in both West Georgia and in the Atlanta metro.”
Those improvements included a greens conversion to Tif Eagle Berumda greens, an updated pro shop layout, and a full repair of the course’s cart paths back in the summer of 2017. The total investment of those projects approximated $150,000.
In addition to the 2017 improvements, West Pines also purchased new golf carts equipped with GPS yardage readers and Bluetooth speakers for streaming music from a mobile device. These carts are available for use for all golfers at no additional cost.
“West Pines is such a unique amenity for both residents and visitors alike,” said Mayor Rochelle Robinson, “we’re very proud of the upgrades and equally as proud of the notoriety the course has received. We’re committed to maintaining this amenity for everyone to enjoy."
West Pines Golf Club is located at 9090 Rose Ave in Douglasville, in the Downtown Douglasville area.
