Ribbon Cutting West Pines Performance Center

West Pines Golf Club recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of its highly anticipated Performance Center.

“This facility is one that will enhance the golf experience at West Pines,” Parks and Recreation Director Travis Landrum explained. “It will contribute to the overall impact that West Pines and the Parks and Recreation Department both strive to achieve each and every day.”

The Performance Center adds additional amenities previously not available at West Pines. The addition of club repair equipment allows staff the ability to change club lengths and measure the swing weights of irons, hybrid clubs, and putters.

“Both golfers and staff welcome this addition,” explained Chris Cartwright, West Pines’ Golf Professional. “Before, we were only able to re-grip golf clubs, but now we offer a full stable of tools that can help improve a golfer’s game and their equipment.”

Other amenities that have been added with the building of the Performance Center include Flightscope, which is a tool that uses doppler radar to track the flight of a golf ball through the air and the rate and direction of the ball rotation.

Finally, West Pines has added the use of Swing Catalyst, a video analysis software that captures live video of a player’s swing. This is used during one-on-one coaching sessions so a player’s strengths and weaknesses can be analyzed and corrected by a swing coach.

“This video software and Performance Center sets West Pines apart from other municipal courses in the region and nationwide,” Cartwright said. “It is a great tool that will attract golfers and exponentially grow the Club’s profile throughout the golfing community.
