Douglasville Recycling Center

The Douglasville Recycling Center, operated by the City of Douglasville and supported by Keep Douglasville Beautiful, is a drop-off facility open to all—residents and non-residents—that offers comprehensive recycling services, education programs, and community engagement to promote environmental stewardship and reduce landfill waste. 

Notice: Public Services will begin collecting and removing residential curbside recycling bins in January 2026 since they are no longer utilized. Residents are reminded that recycling services are available at our Recycling Center, located at 8145 Cedar Mountain Road. The facility is open to the public, providing a convenient option for responsible recycling. Please call 770-920-3005 with questions.

How to Use the Center

Note: The center does not pay for any materials dropped off.

Step 1.Presort Before You Arrive

Organize your recyclables at home so drop-off is quick and efficient.

Step 2.Park in the Designated Area

Enter and park along the building or under the covered area for easy access.

Step 3.Self-Service Drop-Off

Place items in the bins yourself. Staff are available if you need help with special or oversized items.

Step 4.Use the Correct Bins

Match your recyclables with the labeled bins to ensure proper sorting and processing.

 

Recycling Guidelines

Step 1.Clean, Dry & Empty

All containers must be rinsed and free of food, liquid, or residue.

Step 2.Remove Container Tops

Take lids off plastic bottles and glass jars before recycling.

Step 3.Flatten Cardboard

Break down boxes to save space and improve processing.

Step 4.Aluminum and Steel Cans Only

Cans must be rinsed and free of food, liquid, or residue.

Materials that are accepted:

  • Paper: Junk mail, newspapers, magazines, phonebooks, books, office paper, wrapping paper
  • Plastic: Clean #1 & #2 consumer plastic containers
  • Cardboard: Brown paper bags, corrugated boxes *all must be flat*
  • Metal: Aluminum and steel cans (no aerosol cans)
  • Glass: Food grade jars & bottles

Materials that are not accepted:

  • Plastic: Plastics #3 - #7, six pack rings, rigid or industrial plastics (toys, buckets, flowerpots, garbage cans, storage containers, etc.), plastic shower curtains, plastic table cloths
  • Plastic grocery bags and plastic film
  • Household/Automotive: Appliances, wood, furniture, mattresses, toilets, carpet, Christmas trees
  • Glass: Glass other than jars & bottles (drinkware, cookware, vases, candles, mirrors, etc.)
  • Household hazardous: Propane tanks, devices containing mercury, aerosol cans, alkaline or single-use batteries
  • Misc: Medical waste, construction waste

Cardboard & Mixed Paper

Flatten boxes; include office paper, newspapers, and mail. Keep everything dry.

Plastics #1 & #2

Bottles, jugs, and tubs labeled #1 or #2. Remove lids.

Aluminum and Steel Cans

Rinse and keep loose. No foil or scrap metal.

Glass

Bottles and jars only. Lids off. No ceramics or window glass.
