Main Street Market & Elana Meyers Taylor Welcome Home Celebration

The City of Douglasville invites the community to a special Main Street Market celebration and hometown recognition for Olympic Gold Medalist Elana Meyers Taylor on Saturday, March 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Douglasville Town Green.

The event will combine the popular Main Street Market with a block-party style community celebration honoring the Douglas County native’s historic gold medal victory in women’s monobob at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.

Hosted collaboratively by Douglas County Government, the City of Douglasville, and the Douglas County School System, the celebration will feature a special recognition ceremony at 11 a.m. on the Town Green stage, where city, county, and school officials will honor Meyers Taylor for her Olympic achievements and her contributions to the sport of bobsledding.

“Elana Meyers Taylor’s accomplishments on the world stage make our entire community proud,” said Jason Post, Community Relations Director for the City of Douglasville. “We are excited to once again celebrate her incredible achievement while bringing residents together to enjoy the Main Street Market and the vibrant spirit of downtown Douglasville.”

With her gold medal in the 2026 Olympic women’s monobob, Meyers Taylor secured the sixth Olympic medal of her career, tying the record for the most Winter Olympic medals won by a U.S. woman. A five-time Olympian, she is the most decorated Black athlete in Winter Olympic history and one of the most accomplished competitors in the history of bobsledding.

Following the ceremony, attendees will have the opportunity to meet Meyers Taylor during a public meet-and-greet, including time for photos and autographs.

Throughout the event, visitors can enjoy the Main Street Market, featuring local vendors, artisans, and small businesses, along with food vendors, music, and family-friendly activities that will create a festive atmosphere in the heart of downtown Douglasville.

The event is free and open to the public, and the community is encouraged to come out to celebrate, support local vendors, and welcome home one of the nation's most accomplished athletes.
