Douglasville Receives Honorable Mention for Town Green Project
Published on November 04, 2025
The City of Douglasville has been recognized with an Honorable Mention at the Atlanta Regional Commission’s (ARC) 2025 Regional Excellence Awards for its innovative and community-focused Douglasville Town Green and GreyStone Amphitheater project.
Each year, the ARC Regional Excellence Awards honor local governments and community partners that make significant contributions to improving the quality of life across the Atlanta region. Douglasville’s Town Green project was selected for its exceptional approach to placemaking, sustainable design, and community collaboration, helping to transform the city’s downtown into a vibrant cultural and entertainment hub.
The Douglasville Town Green, which officially opened in 2023, serves as the centerpiece of the city’s ongoing downtown revitalization efforts. Anchored by the GreyStone Amphitheater, the multi-purpose public space has quickly become a regional destination for entertainment, recreation, and community connection. Featuring an expansive greenspace, walking paths, interactive fountains, and event-friendly infrastructure, the Town Green was designed with extensive community input to create a welcoming environment for all ages.
Since its opening, the GreyStone Amphitheater has hosted performances by Grammy Award-winning artists including Gladys Knight, Boney James, and LeAnn Rimes, drawing visitors from across the metro area and beyond. The success of the venue and surrounding park has contributed to renewed investment and development interest in Downtown Douglasville.
This recognition also highlights the City’s long-standing commitment to revitalizing its downtown by creating modern amenities that serve today’s residents while honoring the area’s historic character. Over the past decade, projects such as the Douglasville Conference Center have helped to anchor downtown’s growth — offering a premier meeting and event destination that was intentionally designed to complement the architectural style and charm of the surrounding area.
That same philosophy guided the design of the Douglasville Town Green and continues to shape future investments in the heart of the city. Upcoming projects, such as the planned City Hall complex, will continue this tradition — creating new spaces that meet the needs of a growing community while enhancing downtown’s historic landscape and supporting nearby businesses and residents.
“Receiving this recognition from the Atlanta Regional Commission is a tremendous honor and a testament to the hard work and vision of our city staff, elected officials, and community partners,” said Mayor Rochelle Robinson. “The Douglasville Town Green has become more than just a park—it’s a gathering place that reflects the spirit, culture, and pride of our city. This award encourages us in the City of Douglasville to keep moving in the upward trajectory that we’re currently in, continuing to build a city that our residents are proud to call home.”
