The City of Douglasville hosted a Main Street Town Hall meeting on March 3 at the Douglasville Conference Center to provide downtown businesses, residents, and community stakeholders with updates on several ongoing and upcoming initiatives affecting the downtown area.

City leaders and staff shared information on the continued growth and development of downtown Douglasville, including updates on the next phase of the Town Green project, economic development activity, the city’s new Personal Transportation Vehicle (PTV) ordinance, and construction plans for the future City Hall facility.

The meeting focused heavily on the next phase of development surrounding the Douglasville Town Green and GreyStone Amphitheater. Phase 2 of the project will introduce a mixed-use development featuring residential units and retail space surrounding the Town Green area. The project aims to further activate downtown by creating new opportunities for people to live, shop, dine, and gather in the heart of the city. Concept designs presented at the meeting show multi-story residential buildings with ground-level retail and community amenities that will complement the existing amphitheater and public green space.

City staff also provided updates on recent economic development activity and new businesses that have opened or are planning to open in the Main Street area. These additions continue to build momentum for downtown Douglasville as a destination for dining, retail, and entertainment while supporting the city’s vision of preserving its small-town charm while offering big-city amenities.

Attendees also received details about the city’s newly adopted Personal Transportation Vehicle (PTV) ordinance, which will allow residents to operate golf carts and similar vehicles on certain city streets under specific regulations. The ordinance outlines safety requirements, equipment standards, and operational guidelines for PTV use within city limits. Registration for PTVs will open on March 16, 2026, with a $15 registration fee and proof of liability insurance required.

In addition, the City provided an update on the new Douglasville City Hall project. The facility will serve as a modern hub for municipal services and city administration and is expected to play a key role in supporting the continued growth and development of the downtown area. Officials shared preliminary logistics and timeline information related to the project’s planning and construction phases.

City officials emphasized that community engagement meetings like the Main Street Town Hall are an important part of keeping residents and business owners informed about major initiatives while also providing an opportunity for feedback and discussion.

The city plans to continue hosting community meetings and engagement opportunities as these projects move forward.
